The Red Delicious apple tree is a fast grower and yields an abundance of fruit. Red Delicious produces large, firm, dark red fruit that is sweet and juicy making it perfect for eating fresh, baking and canning.

Sun: Full Sun at least 6 hours per day

Soil: Well-drained loamy soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0

Water: Water weekly until established. Water established trees deeply as needed. You may need to water more often in times of extreme heat or drought.

Pruning: Once your tree has become established and is starting to bear fruit, it will need some periodic, moderate pruning.

The Red Delicious apple tree is a fast grower and can grow more than 24″ per year. It is a mid-season bloomer in late April or early May with fragrant white flowers. This tree is a heavy producer and will keep you supplied with apples for months to come. Red Delicious produces large, firm, dark red fruit that is sweet and juicy making it perfect for eating fresh, baking and canning.

Plant in full sun and well-drained loamy soil. This tree grows well in slightly acidic soil and does not tolerate long drought periods. Most apple trees do best with a slightly acidic soil pH in the range of 5.0 to 6.8. The Red Delicious requires cross-pollination. It’s essential to plant another apple tree nearby for successful fruit production. Fuji, Gala and Golden Delicious are considered good pollinating partners. Average height 12′ – 15′ and width 12′ – 15′. Required Chill Hours: 900.  USDA Hardiness Zone 5 – 8.
