The Celeste fig tree is a cold hardy variety that produces small, sweet fruit. The Celeste fig will provide you with a large crop of quality figs in mid-summer. The fruits are “closed eye”. The eye is where a wasp would enter to pollinate the flowers. Having a closed eye prevents water and microorganisms from entering the fruit and also discourages dried fruit beetle and fruit rot. Perfect for eating fresh, using in deserts, as well as, dehydrating and making preserves.
Plant in full sun in well-drained loamy and neutral soil. It also does well in containers. The Celeste fig tree is self-pollinating, but planting pollinating partners can increase the size of your crops. Average height 5′ -10′ and width 5′ – 10′. Required Chill Hours: 100. US hardiness zones 7 – 11.
