Celeste Fig Tree (Ficus carica ‘Celestial’)

The Celeste fig will provide you with a large crop of quality figs in mid-summer. The fruits are “closed eye”. The eye is where a wasp would enter to pollinate the flowers. Having a closed eye prevents water and microorganisms from entering the fruit and also discourages dried fruit beetle and fruit rot. Perfect for eating fresh, using in deserts, as well as, dehydrating and making preserves.

Sunlight: Full Sun.

Soil: Well-drained, loamy, neutral or slightly acidic soil.

Temperature: Both heat and cold tolerant.

Water: Water weekly until established. Water established trees deeply as needed. You may need to water more often in times of extreme heat or drought.

Pruning: Should not be pruned heavily, as this can reduce fruit production.

Containers: This tree does well in containers in cooler climates.
